Meet Xian Zhang, the conductor and music director of the New Jersey Symphony, as she conducts and discusses her 2020 NJPAC performance of music from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet. Xian explains that she developed a deep connection to the work after conducting a complete performance of the ballet at La Scala in Milan, Italy. It’s one of the most touching and emotional scores in all of classical music.
