Description
Legendary English singer, songwriter, and virtuosic guitarist Richard Thompson brings his wide-ranging collection of powerful songs to the Tabernacle, a 19th century church space in Mt. Tabor, New Jersey that’s become an intimate music venue cherished by performers and audiences alike. Richard Thompson, a founder of the folk rock group Fairport Convention with 20 albums in his catalog, is just one of the luminaries attracted by the intimate, acoustically wonderful performance space at the Tabernacle.
Richard’s wife Zara Phillips joins him on several songs for harmonies, and State of the Arts meets both of them after the show at their home in East Orange. Also interviewed are the co-founders of the Tabernacle, George Philhower and Kevin Simonson.
Produced and directed for State of the Arts by Bob Szuter. Director of photography by Joe Conlon and Camera by Jack Stawowczyk. Special thanks to At The Tabernacle’s Volunteer Staff and Brad Oldham.
