Description
Find out why New Jersey isn’t just the Garden State – it’s also the Poetry State. We talk to New Jersey natives Maria Mazziotti Gillan, Joe Weil, and three-time poet laureate Robert Pinsky about following in the footsteps of Allen Ginsberg, William Carlos Williams, and Walt Whitman.
Pinsky recently shared the stage with ten other poets at “Jersey Voices” – part of the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival programming at NJPAC, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Maria Mazziotti Gillan has run the Poetry Center at Passaic County Community College in historic Paterson for over 35 years. Like the Dodge Poetry Festival, it’s a beloved hub of the poetry world rooted in New Jersey.
