Description

Artist Wendel A. White has a new series of photographs dealing with the fraught history of African-Americans, called “Manifest.” We visited an exhibition of images from the series at the New Jersey State Museum in 2015. Since then, Wendel White was commissioned by the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture to photograph objects from its collection. State of the Arts went on a field trip to the Cape May County Museum, where Wendel photographed several items, including a Confederate flag from the Museum’s collection, and a woman’s KKK robe borrowed from another institution. We also drop in on Professor White’s senior photo class at Stockton University.
