We visit Emerge 11, an exhibit of 21 artists at Aljira, A Center for Contemporary Art, in downtown Newark, New Jersey. But Emerge is much more than a group art show – it’s also a professional development program for artists – the only one of its kind in New Jersey – created by Founding Director Victor Davson. We spoke with him, and five of the Emerge 11 artists: Tai Hwa Goh, David Rios Ferreira, Vikki Michalios, William David Caballero, and Nell Painter.
