Description

The International Center of Photography (ICP) opened its new museum on the Bowery in New York in June 2016 with “Public, Private, Secret.” It asks the question, “What is privacy?” State of the Arts talks to Associate Curator Pauline Vermare about the link between the newest images in the exhibition, drawn from Twitter and Instagram, to the oldest, including images of Frederick Douglass and Sojourner Truth. We go even further behind-the-scenes with a visit to the ICP at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City, where Director of Exhibitions Erin Barnett gives a tour of some of the treasures of the ICP’s archives.
