Photographer and performance artist LaToya Ruby Frazier says her work is about finding a balance between the politics and the poetics of documentary photography. Her work is gripping and highly personal, often involving family members. At age 30, Frazier was in the 2012 Whitney Biennial, where her work attracted wide attention. Frazier is an instructor at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers, and she exhibits internationally.
