Poet Brenda Shaughnessy has published three books of poems, including “Our Andromeda” in 2012. In a review, the NY Times wrote, “Love is the fierce engine of this beautiful and necessary book of poems.” In this story, Shaughnessy describes the very personal reasons that motivate her to write, and gives her “5 Basic Rules” for aspiring poets. We see her read at the 2014 Dodge Poetry Festival, and visit her in class at Rutgers-Newark, where she teaches in the MFA program.
