McCarter Theatre’s new Artistic Director Sarah Rasmussen waited nearly two years during the pandemic, but she’s roaring back into action to direct her first show for McCarter. Ride the Cyclone: The Musical starts with a tragedy but soars into wildly imaginative other worlds, and its positive energy takes audiences on a wild ride. Sarah Rasmussen chose Cyclone for this very reason: “Our world needs that sort of levity and energy right now!” State of the Arts explores McCarter’s complex production of this darkly funny musical, which features a cast of young actors performing songs created in a wide variety of musical styles.
