Jerry Herman (1931-2019) demonstrates how to bring out the pathos in one of his songs during a rehearsal, and describes moments from his career in an in-depth interview with producer Amber Edwards. The composer and lyricist of “Hello, Dolly!” “Mame” and “La Cage aux Folles,” Jerry Herman grew up in Jersey City, where he was the only child of two music-loving teachers. “Jerry Herman: Gray Eminence” premiered on NJN Public Television on November 19, 2004.
