Description
Our Town had its first performance 75 years ago at the McCarter Theatre in Princeton. Now, a city-wide celebration with the beloved classic at its center is taking place in New Brunswick. State of the Arts NJ finds out how the George Street Playhouse‘s production of Thornton Wilder’s play about small town America is connecting the community in New Brunswick. “New Brunswick: Our Town” included a city-wide painting event, a production by the American Repertory Ballet, a photo contest, and a new interview-based play, Our Town Now. Our Town, starring 4-time Tony award-winner Boyd Gaines, also marks the first time that the George Street Playhouse has collaborated with actors from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Theater professor David S. Esbjornson directs the production.
Produced by Susan Wallner.
