Description
The New Jersey Performing Arts Center, NJPAC, in Newark, NJ celebrated the great American writer Ralph Ellison with a star-studded evening of jazz music inspired by the author’s own record collection, and spoken word from Ellison’s writings. Wynton Marsalis, Audible founder Donald J. Katz, and scholar Robert O’Meally, all of whom knew Ellison personally, participated. Actor Joe Morton, singer Catherine Russell, the Andy Farber Orchestra joined in the celebration.
