The producers of State of the Arts filmed a January 2014 concert in honor of William H. Scheide’s 100th birthday for broadcast on PBS stations throughout the United States. The concert at Princeton University’s Alexander Hall featured the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Westminster Choir and conductor Mark Laycock performing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, along with works by Brahms and Bach. Princeton resident William H. Scheide is a renowned philanthropist, scholar, musician and collector of rare books and manuscripts. He was the founder and director of the Bach Aria Group.
