The Sister Chapel

Rowan University Art Gallery West presents The Sister Chapel, a historic collaborative installation created at the height of the women’s art movement. The last time these paintings were all together was 1980. In this new exhibition, the larger-than-life-size paintings are arranged for the first time according to the original plan created in the 1970s – inside a tent-like “chapel.” State of the Arts meets some of the artists and talks to Rowan University art historian Andrew Hottle about The Sister Chapel – we find out why it was so radical, and why it’s worth preserving.
