Description
Two Muslim women come together for an exhibition of their art at Princeton University Art Museum’s Art@Bainbridge. Khalilah Sabree was born in Georgia, then relocated to Trenton, New Jersey when she was five. She converted to Islam after graduating high school. Alia Bensliman grew up in Tunisia before coming to New Jersey as an adult. The exhibition, Reciting Women, sparks a dialogue about their lives and experiences as well as wider conversations about gender equity, rising Islamophobia, and spirituality in art.
Susan Wallner produced and directed the feature for State of the Arts. Nate Reininga was the Director of Photography, with additional photography by Joe Conlon, Jack Stawowcyzk, and Eric Alonzo.
