Description
Produced in 2001 by Angela Capio, this story was filmed at Adolf Konrad’s rural home in Asbury, NJ and on Ellis Island. The artist returned to Ellis Island to paint the location where he had first entered the United States in 1925. Adolf Konrad was born in Bremen, Germany in 1915; he died in 2003. The family settled in Newark, NJ and young Adolf studied at the Newark School of Fine Arts. He would later become a favorite of the Newark Museum, fondly known as the painter laureate of New Jersey’s largest city. His work was often compared to Edward Hopper’s—in fact, the two shared a New York exhibition in 1962. Host: Amber Edwards.
