Description

The much loved New Jersey artist and teacher W. Carl Burger celebrates his 95th birthday in 2020, and the Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ has mounted a new retrospective exhibition of his work, spanning seven decades. There are watercolors Carl created as an American soldier in Normandy, France in 1944, magnificent landscapes, provocative drawings focusing on social issues, like overpopulation and the Catholic Church, and collages inspired by medieval manuscripts.

Over the years, State of the Arts has produced three features about W. Carl Burger. This was produced back in 1983. At the time, Carl was in his 50’s and Professor of Art at Kean University. The feature was filmed at his home in Califon, New Jersey.

This feature was produced by Anisa Mehdi.
